Marie Kondo has established herself as a cleaning consultant with a revolutionary idea of organising category-by-category instead of room-by-room. With a best-selling book (The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up) and a popular Netflix show (Tidying Up with Marie Kondo), she’s become a household name. Let’s take a closer look at the KonMari Method…
There are 6 basic rules to getting started with the KonMari Method:
Instead of simply seeing cleaning and tidying as a necessary chore, the KonMari method sees the process as more of a lifestyle choice; requiring you to keep items that spark joy and serve purpose and thanking and discarding items that no longer do.
And the 5 categories to tackle (in a specific order):
Step 1: start by removing everything in the first category from its storage space and putting them into a big pile. Remember, this means ALL the clothes in the house or ALL the books etc. and not just the items from one room.
Step 2: next, work through each item and ask yourself if it sparks joy. This might feel strange at first, but you’re really asking yourself what is the point of this item? Does it make me happy at all? Why do I still have it?
Tip: Kondo suggests that you visualise the life you want and what you need in order to get yourself there. Any items that don’t assist you in that journey should be let go.
Step 3: decide whether to keep or discard each item, then move the “keep items” back into their storage spaces (neatly of course!).
Step 4: follow the same steps for each of the categories until you are complete!

Just to let you know we are open for business as usual and you can continue to have your cleaner clean your house.
The government has made it clear that cleaners are still permitted to work inside peoples' homes as long as Government Guidelines on social distancing and staying safe are followed (see below). In summary:
You can be outside of your home for work purposes where your place of work remains open and where you cannot work from home, including if your job involves working in other people's homes.

The good news with regard to cleaning is that the cleaners can social distance from their clients very easily, and we would advise that, if you are at home when they are there, that you remain in a separate room to your cleaner.
